By Alec Kinsky, D1 Circuit

Explosive scorer working on other aspects of his game

Team Final is known for pumping out tough scoring guards, and Trey Lowe fits that bill. The 6-foot-7 swingman from New Jersey is oozing with potential, so much so that Team Final Director Rob Brown named him as their 'player on watch.' Lowe led the state of New Jersey in scoring and is off to a good start in the EYBL, averaging 10.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, which is a testament to his improved defensive approach. I caught up with the scoring guard from Ewing, New Jersey, asking him a variety of questions centered around his EYBL experience:

Alec Kinsky:  What most excites you about playing in the EYBL? Which aspects of your game will you be looking to improve?

Trey Lowe:  I would say playing against all the best players in the country. I really need to focus on on my defense and getting stronger.

AK:  When did you realize that basketball was more than just a hobby, and that it could take you to greater things?

TL:  Last year when I led my team to the state semifinals, and we lost by two. I learned that it's my life and I'm going to play it until I die.

AK:  How familiar are you with your teammates?

TL:  Me, Mali (Malachi Richardson) and Donte (Divincenzo) are like brothers, and we really look forward to this spring.

AK:  As the leading scorer in New Jersey, has the coaching staff told you they'll be depending on your scoring ability?

TL:  It's more than scoring. They have just told me to play my hardest and leave everything on the floor.

AK:  Which player are you most looking forward to match up against this spring?

TL:  No one in particular. Whoever is on the court is who I'm matching up with, names don't matter. I'm not backing down from anyone.

AK:  Which of your teammates do you think will have the biggest rise this spring?

TL:  Lamarr Kimble, Derrick Woods & Levan Alston.

AK:  Who is recruiting you the hardest right now?

TL:  Nova, VCU, Temple, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Purdue & Kansas

AK:  Who would you say you model your game after?

TL:  Kevin Durant. My favorite player.

AK:  If you could explain your game in a few words, what would they be?

TL:  Smooth, athletic and smart.
