NIKE EYBL Hampton: Top Matchups

APRIL 21

The 2017 EYBL circuit kicks off with a terrific Florida showdown that should play a big factor in divisional play.

Key frontcourt matchup: Junior Emmitt Williams (ESPN No. 7) vs. Sophomore Trendon Watford (ESPN No. 5)

There will be several friendly-faces in this border battle. MeanStreets features three players from Michigan.

Key backcourt matchup: Tim Finke (ESPN 4-star) vs. David Dejulius (ESPN 4-star)

Portland BC will be making their EYBL debut against one of the strongest teams on the circuit. CP3 is loaded top-to-bottom, but may struggle with PBC's bigs.

Key frontcourt matchup: Kamaka Hepa (ESPN No. 49) vs. Jaylen Hoard (ESPN No. 36)

April 22

Saturday kicks off with a battle of rivals from the midwest. These two programs both have extremely strong rosters that should make for a great early-morning contest.

Key frontcourt matchup: Jontay Porter (ESPN No. 26) vs. James Wiseman (ESPN 2019 No. 12)

A battle of two long-standing EYBL powerhouses. The Soldiers will be looking to bounce back strong after a poor 2016 showing, while Spiece reloads with a gigantic rotation.

Key frontcourt matchup: Taeshon Cherry (ESPN 4-star) vs. Brandon Johns (ESPN No. 44)

The Panthers and Supreme played one of the best games of the season in 2016, and they'll both be looking to get their 2017 campaigns started off strong.

Key backcourt matchup: Tre Jones (ESPN 4-star) vs. Gianni Hunt (ESPN 2019 3-star)

Team Hood (MS) will be looking to gain traction in their first EYBL stop, and they'll have a chance to gain a signature win over their new southern foe from Georgia.

Key frontcourt matchup: Robert Woodard (ESPN No. 29) vs. Jamie Lewis (ESPN No. 46)

Host Boo Williams will play in front of a packed crowd, especially against sophomore superstar RJ Barrett (ESPN 2019 No. 1). This will be one of the most energetic matchups of the weekend.

Key backcourt matchup: RJ Barrett (ESPN No. 1) vs. Keldon Johnson (ESPN No. 18)

This will be a fun midwest battle featuring a battle of two of the top point guards in 2018. These two have put together some intense battles over the years and this should add to the list.

Key backcourt matchup: Ayo Dosunmu (ESPN No. 40) vs. Tre Jones (ESPN 4-star)

Georgia-bred point guard Will Richardson (ESPN 4-star) will star against his former squad. Jairus Hamilton will need to come up big against Emmitt Williams inside.

Key frontcourt matchup: Emmitt Williams (ESPN No. 7) vs. Jairus Hamilton (ESPN No. 32)

Two California programs meet out east in a battle of the CIF's two best big men; Taeshon Cherry (Soldiers) and Marvin Bagley III (Phamily). Winner of this matchup will earn early season west-coast bragging rights.

Key frontcourt matchup: Marvin Bagley III (ESPN No. 1) vs. Taeshon Cherry (ESPN 4-star)

Team Melo (MD) will be looking to make a statement in their first EYBL session, and they'll get a chance to pick up a signature win over budding rival and east coast powerhouse Team Takeover (DC).

Key frontcourt matchup: Jalen Smith (ESPN No. 37) vs. Nate Roberts (ESPN 4-star)

APRIL 23

Two EYBL powerhouses meet in a huge early-season divisional showdown. There are tons of ranked players across the board between these two squads.

Key frontcourt matchup: Emmitt Williams (ESPN No. 7) vs. DJ Jeffries (ESPN 2019 No. 6)

The Rocks and Final are sure-fire Peach Jam contenders, and a win over each other would bode well for either program. 

Key backcourt matchup: Cam Reddish (ESPN No. 5) vs. Jeenathan Williams (ESPN 4-star)

A Texas showdown between Hoops and Skills will go down in Hampton. One thing is certain - both of these programs desperately want a win for bragging rights.

Key backcourt matchup: Javonte Smart (ESPN No. 24) vs. Keonte Kennedy (247 4-star)

A battle for New York City will go down Sunday, as both The RENS and Lightning look to reload with completely new rosters.

Key backcourt matchup: RENS G Cormac Ryan (ESPN No. 56) vs. Lightning G Anthony Nelson

Matchup of the Session

EYBL Hampton will be capped off with the Matchup of the Session between Team Takeover and Team CP3. Both programs are absolutely tacked in 2017, and this should deliver as a strong closing to the EYBL's first session.

Key frontcourt matchup: Jaylen Hoard (ESPN No. 36) vs. Jalen Smith (ESPN No. 37)
