This game was an enjoyable matchup for those who love hard nosed basketball as there was high energy from both teams early on, and both BABC and Boo Williams brought the defensive intensity to start the game.
BABC used their well-known press to fluster Boo Williams and tried to slow them, while Boo Williams just played some solid man to man defense of their own. Both teams executed well and got good looks on the offensive end without forcing shots or making turnovers.
For BABC point guard Shandon Brown really stepped up and controlled the tempo while getting some offense of his own. However, it was Cole Swider who really stole the show in the first half and was knocking down shots. He had 11 in the half to lead BABC.
For Boo Williams, their stud Keldon Johnson was very aggressive and vocal early on. He set the tone for his teammates and constantly got them fired up while battling in the box and on the perimeter. The Hampton MVP had six in the half as well as sharp shooter Aundre Hyatt who knocked down back to back threes at one point to put Boo up four. Marrecus Johnson had a solid seven of his own in the half as well.
This see-saw battle definitely was a thriller all the way through and things were tied up at the half after a buzzer-beating three from BABC's Jakigh Dottin.
Shortly after that, Zion Harmon got it grooving for Boo Williams, hitting back to back threes of his own, including a four-point play, to put them up nine. Hyatt then scored a quick five points to extend the lead to 14 points with about 5 minutes to go. Keldon kept his motor going and didn't relent, even after the big run.
Boo Williams would go on to win easily after a huge run in the second half behind 17 points and 20 overall from Zion Harmon. Keldon finished with 16 and Hyatt with 15. For BABC, the backcourt of Brown and Dottin has 14 and 12 respectively, while big man Caden Dumas had a solid 10 in their loss.
