“Special” doesn’t begin to describe the potential of RJ Barrett
Despite his UPLAY Canada squad continuing to struggle, Barrett took his outstanding play to all new heights in Atlanta, becoming the first underclassman this season to average over 30 PPG for an entire session.
Barrett’s ever-improving perimeter game was on full display, but his true strength remains in his ability drive, take contact and get to the charity stripe. From there, Barrett is automatic and more often than not he will finish through the contact and get the and-1.
Barrett's body is college-ready and he has no problem battling with the bigs inside to boost his rebounding numbers and get his team out on the break.
While he had already shown plenty in the way of scoring and boarding the rock, Barrett showed off his underrated passing ability in a triple-double effort against Portland Basketball Club.
He followed up that performance with the highest-scoring single-game of the Atlanta session, a 41-point, 13-rebound outing in a win over Team United.
Look for Barrett to continue his offensive onslaught in Los Angeles, and he'll be aided by the return of fellow sophomore guard Andrew Nembhard.
