Kentucky lands their first class of 2019 prospect in D.J. Jeffries

The Kentucky Wildcats have landed their first commitment for the class of 2019 in small forward D.J. Jeffries. The Olive Branch High School standout (M.S.) chose the Wildcats over Alabama and Mississippi State. Jeffries is one of the top small forwards throughout the country with his size, athleticism and skill set. Jeffries found Kentucky to show the most love to him throughout the process.

“I chose Kentucky because throughout this process they have been the most active,” Jeffries told Prep Circuit. “They have come to visit me and have made me feel like a priority. That is what made my decision.”

It’s not common to see a prospect commit this early in the process, but for Jeffries it felt just right.

“I made my decision this early because I talked to my family about it and I felt like the timing was right,” Jeffries said.

Head Coach John Calipari told Jeffries what made him such a priority for the Wildcats.

“Coach Calipari told me he likes my toughness and my will to win and ability to play multiple positions,” he said.

One key factor that separated Kentucky from the rest of the schools recruiting him was their pro development.

“What separated them from the rest was the amount of people they have put in the NBA,” said Jeffries. “They are good at developing kids to be out in one year and that’s what I plan to do.”
