Junior Enoch Cheeks will see major minutes at the top of Expressions' backcourt rotation, and the 6-foot-3 lead guard from Providence, Rhode Island is ready to explode on the national scene.

Cheeks transferred to prep powerhouse Putnam Science Academy in March, cementing the notion that his best basketball is yet to come. Cheeks is a high-major play-maker and can get you a bucket from all over the floor. Sophomore guard Bensley Joseph enjoyed a standout junior season for Cushing Academy and currently holds offers from Iowa and Richmond.

We caught up with Cheeks before the season:

Q: What first drew you to basketball and at what point did you realize that you could have a future in the game?

Enoch Cheeks: I used to be a football player but that ended because of injuries so my parents introduced me to basketball. I started late at 12 but realized I could be special in 10th grade.

What’s your favorite memory outside of basketball ever?

EC: Favorite memory outside of basketball is when my little sister was born. That was definitely a special moment.

What’s the best part about having siblings?

EC: The best thing about having siblings is just coming home to company all the time even though they can be annoying. Still gotta love them because they’re always there for me.

Who is your favorite athlete of all time, any sport, and why? Both on and off the playing field or court.

EC: My favorite athlete is Ryan Garcia; he’s a professional boxer. He’s just the ultimate competitor and always striving to get better. The videos he posts just motivate me.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

EC: Always fight through adversity and never quit because the next man is hungry and will take your spot.

What is the area of your game you have improved on the most since last season?

EC: Definitely shooting. Last year I was 34% from three; this year I was 40%.

Where do you see yourself 20 years from now?

EC: I definitely see myself playing at a professional level weather it’s the League or overseas.

What’s it going to take for you guys to go all the way in Peach Jam?

EC: We are all going to have to put defense first and play together. If we do, that I’m sure we have a shot.

If you could have dinner with three people living or deceased, who would they be?

EC: Oh man! It would probably be Kobe Bryant, MLK, and 2Pac.
