Nike EYBL All-Indianapolis MVP: N'Faly Dante

By D1 Circuit Staff, 05/17/19, 9:00PM EDT

EYBL fans were treated to some great basketball at the Pacers Athletic Center in Indianapolis last weekend.

If you tuned in to watch MOKAN big man N'Faly Dante, you saw the best basketball being played.

A lot was discovered within the grassroots basketball world at EYBL Indianapolis.

Six teams went 4-0. The Mac Irvin Fire won their 7th straight game. MeanStreets DJ Steward went off for 46 in an overtime buzzer-beating win. Emoni Bates & Bronny James squared off in the biggest E15 game in EYBL history. The list could go on, but one pot of gold was discovered that turns one lucky EYBL program into a legitimate Peach Jam contender.

The best version of N'Faly Dante.

MOKAN entered Indy with a point to prove after going 2-2 in Atlanta, and Dante led the charge. The 7-foot junior averaged 16.5 points and nine rebounds per game while shooting a ridiculous 85.2% (29-34) from the floor. Nationally known as a dominant paint protector, Dante excelled on defense as well, tallying 11 blocks and six steals over MOKAN's four wins.

MOKAN head coach thought Dante played with a ton of energy and was efficient on both ends of the floor, and he is confidence in what his center brings to the table.

“He played with a high motor, protected the rim, finished around the basket, was unselfish and a leader for our team," said Perry. "Those are all things that he’s capable of doing every time he touches the floor."

Dante is in his second season in the EYBL, and while he was an All-Peach Jam performer last July, it's clear that he's playing the best basketball of his life this spring. While the stats don't necessarily indicate it, Dante was outstanding in MOKAN's win over defending champion Team Takeover. Battling foul trouble the entire game, Dante managed 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting, five blocks, four rebounds, and three steals in MOKAN's buzzer-to-buzzer victory.

"In my opinion," Perry said. "(Dante's) performance against Team Takeover was his best game in the past two years.”

Perry will need more of the same from Dante moving forward, and the rest of the MOKAN unit looks to be meshing at the perfect time. Rattling off a 4-0 session record is not an easy feat in the EYBL and it should build the confidence of this MOKAN squad.
