An argument could be made for a few teams in Pool D to be considered 'the favorite' to advance to bracket play. Vegas Elite is the highest-scoring team in the league at 93.5 points per game, and if they play their ideal pace, triple-digits is easily within reach. The three-headed monster of Josh Christopher, Jaden Hardy, and Julian Strawther leading a rotation with nine top 150 recruits, and Vegas Elite enters the Peach Jam as a legitimate contender for the crown.
The Mac Irvin Fire sport the best regular-season record at 10-3, and they have a deep, talented lineup with high-major players across the board. The backcourt of Adam Miller and Marcus Watson Jr has proven to be lethal, and Mike Foster, Ryan Kalkbrenner, and Seryee Lewis have gotten it done on the interior. Head coach Mike Irvin has his best squad in years, and the Fire will be looking to make a splash in their return to Peach Jam.
Team WhyNot is too talented not to be in consideration as a favorite. WhyNot features six players ranked top 45 in their respective classes and will be lead by the junior star-power of in the top 45 in Jalen Green, Nimari Burnett, and Addison Patterson. Terren Frank and Devin Askew are certified weapons in their roles, and Wilhelm Breidenbach provides some substance down low.
The Nightrydas entered the season as one of the favorites to win the Peach Jam crown, and they found their groove as the season progressed. Three Top 10 prospects - Isaiah Todd, Scottie Barnes, and Moussa Diabate - will lead the Nightrydas and they figure to be a nightmare for the rest of the pool. The Nightrydas will likely go as far as the trio takes them, and Barnes brings valuable Peach Jam experience to the table. Head coach Boobie Francis needs immediate and consistent production from the rest of the rotation, primarily point guard Jayden Stone, swingman Dudley Blackwell and shooting guard Kam Woods. The frontcourt is rounded out by big men Jaylen Haynes and Jamille Reynolds, completing a rotation that is more than talented enough to win a title.
The Indy Heat bring a potent 8-man rotation to North Augusta, and they've relied on the star services of a pair of early college commits, Nijel Pack (Kansas State) and D'Andre Davis (Nebraska). Big man Caleb Furst is the highest-ranked recruit in the rotation, and the 6-foot-10 sophomore will need to stay out of foul trouble alongside junior Kiyron Powell. Juniors Nelly Davis (6-foot-4) and Jaden Ivey (6-foot-2) will need to play the best basketball of their spring, and the Heat could use an uptick in production from highly-ranked sophomore Luke Goode (247 No. 108).
All Ohio Red is the underdog here, mainly because their team is mainly chock full of sleepers. Donovan 'Puff' Johnson helps lead the unit offensively, sharing the scoring duties with junior guard Javohn Garcia. Johnson is the brother of Cam Johnson, recently picked 11th by the Phoenix Suns out of North Carolina, and 'Puff' has plenty of game himself. Johnson averaged 15 points per game in eight games, while Garcia - a two-year EYBL veteran - averaged 16.9 points in 11 games. All Ohio's fate will likely be determined by their supporting cast. Garvin Clarke (10.4 PPG), CJ Anthony (9.5 PPG), Dom Penn (6.6 PPG), Marcus Johnson (5.5 PPG), Obinna Killen (7.0) and Mo Njie (4.9) combine to average 48.9 points per game, and AOR could use a lift in production from Killen (6-foot-8) and Njie (6-foot-9). All Ohio had plenty of firepower to surprise in Pool D, and they'll need a quick start against Team WhyNot, Vegas Elite, and the Nightrydas.
