Last year, Houston Hoops was absolutely loaded. Every player on the 2013 squad signed a Division 1 letter on intent, and the only remaining contributor from last year's squad is sophomore De'Aaron Fox.
The 6-foot-3 combo guard is explosive in everything he does. He plays well-above his years, using an improving jumpshot to compliment his freakish athleticism. He looks to be one of the best overall guards on the circuit, so Alec Kinsky got to pick his brain about the upcoming EYBL sessions:
Alec Kinsky: What are you looking forward to most about playing your second year in the league?
De'Aaron Fox: I'm looking forward to show people out there that we can still win without our three All-Americans and asserting my leadership roll showing I can guard the opposing teams best player.
AK: What aspects of your game are you looking to improve in this year's go-round of the EYBL?
DF: I'd have to say my overall offensive game, last year I was really known as a shooter in the league & also keep improving defensively by showing I can guard the opposing teams best player
AK: At one point did you realize basketball was more than a hobby, and you could use it to help you get through college?
DF: About 8th grade when I really got on the map and started to receive national attention.
AK: Of this year's crop, who impressed you most among the other top-notch EYBL talent?
DF: Jayson Tatum.
AK: Which of your teammates do you think is set for the biggest rise/breakout this spring?
DF: I think Jordan Hunter will be a name to look out for
AK: Do you feel like you'll be entering the circuit as Houston Hoops' floor leader?
DF: Yes, I'm the only returning player from last years 17u team and I've already been in charge of a lot already
AK: Which schools are after you the hardest right now?
DF: Baylor, SMU, Kansas St & Texas
