Pro Skills is brand new to the circuit, and they will rely on 6-foot-4 combo guard Andrew Jones to lead their backcourt. Jones led Irving MacArthur to the 6A State Semifinal game, cementing his spot as one of the top guards in the state of Texas. He'll have quite a bit of talent around him, and he sounds like he's ready for the opportunity that the EYBL provides. Nate Buscko had a chance to ask Jones a few questions about the upcoming season.
Nate Bucsko: What made you decide to play in the EYBL?
Andrew Jones: The opportunity to play against the top players in my class.
NB: What do you like better about the EYBL than high school?
AJ: Definitely the competition.
NB: Which part of your game do you most hope to improve upon in the EYBL?
AJ: I want to improve my overall defense.
NB: What sets you apart from other players on the court?
AJ: The energy I bring sets me apart.
NB: What's the best advice you have ever received from a coach?
AJ: To stay humble and not get complacent.
NB: Which player do you idolize the most and why?
AJ: Kevin Durant; I like how he can do it all offensively.
NB: What's one of your other hobbies besides basketball?
AJ: I also run track for my high school.
NB: What's your favorite movie?
NB: What makes a good teammate?
AJ: Somebody who will always be positive and motivate you.
NB: Is there a player that you're most looking forward to going up against in the EYBL?
AJ: Malik Monk and De'Aaron Fox.
NB: What is some advice you have for younger players who aspire to be playing at this level?
AJ: Always look to improve your game, every single day. Literally take no days off.
NB: When was the moment you realized that basketball was more than a game and could lead to more?
AJ: After my sophomore year when I grew from being 5'8".
