In order to be in the conversation for a Peach Jam bid, The Family Detroit (MI) needed a perfect showing in Atlanta.
It's safe to say they're ready for their next challenge.
Sitting at 2-9 with give games to play, The Family Detroit was looking at five Atlanta games that would almost assuredly eliminate any squad in the same predicament.
Instead, The Family played better than ever, finishing Atlanta with a spotless 5-0 record, including a 1-point win over No. 2 PSA Cardinals.
It was a complete team effort for Detroit, who rode the strong backcourt play of Second-Team All-Atlanta Jamal Cain, as well as Amauri Hardy, Jermaine Jackson Jr. and Greg Elliott, who all earned All-Atlanta honors.
With a record of 7-9, a Peach Jam at-large berth is still up in the air. The Family dug itself a gigantic hole during the first three sessions, but they made it more than evident in Atlanta that they can compete with the league's best.
This much can be said - no one wants The Family Detroit in their Peach Jam pool. Their five-game showing in Atlanta was some of the finest work put forward from any EYBL team all season.
