Nike EYBL Hampton: All-Breakout Team

By D1Circuit, 05/30/18, 9:15PM EDT

Christian Braun

Team: MOKAN Elite (KS)
Record: 4-0 (12-4 overall)

EYBL Hampton stats: 10.8 PPG, 57.1 FG%, 47.0 3PT%, 4.3 RPG
Full season stats

Game 1: 10 PTS (4-6 FG, 0-2 3PT), 7 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL
Game 2: 6 PTS (2-3 3PT), 3 REB
Game 3: 12 PTS (2-4 3PT), 4 REB
Game 4: 15 PTS (4-8 3PT), 3 REB

MOKAN went 4-0 at EYBL Hampton, and Braun's emergence helped in a big way. The 6-foot-4 Braun  hit eight three-pointers, providing MOKAN a valued perimeter threat in their undefeated stretch. Braun is a skilled defender, and his effectiveness within MOKAN's system has improved as the season has progressed. MOKAN has a lot of the necessary pieces to compete for a Peach Jam title, and if Braun can continue this type of production into July, MOKAN shores up their only viable weakness; perimeter shooting.

Grant Sherfield

Team: MOKAN Elite (KS)
Record: 4-0 (12-4 overall)

EYBL Hampton stats: 13.5 PPG, 40.7 3PT% (11/27), 4.3 RPG, 3.0 APG
Full season stats

Game 1: 16 PTS (5-10), 3 REB, 4 AST
Game 2: 15 PTS (4-9), 5 REB, 4 AST
Game 3: 5 PTS (2-9), 7 REB, 3 AST
Game 4: 18 PTS (7-13), 2 REB, AST

Two players, two underrated MOKAN guards. Grant Sherfield had to sit out the first two sessions due to transfer rules, and he seems to be all settled in after eight games. Sherfield's second set of four games went well, seeing the junior point guard average 13.5 points on 40.7% shooting from behind the arc. When paired with DeAndre Sorrells, DuJuan Harris & Braun, it gives you one of the best defensive backcourts in the country. Expect the UCLA verbal commit to make major noise for MOKAN in July.

Mark Freeman

Team: Bluff City Legends
Record: 4-0 (11-5 overall)

EYBL Hampton stats: 13.0 PPG, 4.0 APG, 1.5 RPG, 1.5 SPG
Full season stats

Game 1: 6 PTS, 0 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL
Game 2: 13 PTS, 1 REB, 4 AST, STL
Game 3: 5 PTS, 2 REB, 4 AST, STL
Game 4: 28 PTS, 3 REB, 5 AST, 2 STL

Mark Freeman joined Bluff City after the first session, and the Memphis-native has been extremely valuable in their rotation. The Southwind High School product operates more as a facilitator for the talent-heavy Legends, but he showcased his ability to score, putting up 28 points on 10-for-19 shooting in a season-closing win over CIA Bounce. In order for Bluff City to have success in July, they will need consistent guard play to accompany their elite forwards. Freeman is a big part in that, and will be playing major minutes in the backcourt at Peach Jam.

Levar Williams

Team: BABC
Record: 3-1 (7-9 overall)

EYBL Hampton stats: 13.8 PPG, 13 3PTM, 2.8 RPG, 1.5 APG
Full season stats

Game 1: 7 PTS, 6 REB, AST, 2 STL
Game 2: 4 PTS, 3 REB, 2 AST
Game 3: 24 PTS (6-10 3PT), REB, STL
Game 4: 20 PTS (6-11 3PT), REB, 2 AST, BLK

Levar Williams debuted on the EYBL after session two, has his play has immediately labeled him one of the top shooters on the circuit. Williams got off to a slow start in session four, but rebounded to have two huge games on Sunday. The Burke (MA) high school product hit six threes in each game, effectively stretching the floor while opening things up for his teammates. BABC won't be heading to Peach Jam in 2018, but Williams should continue to play a big role for BABC as they make their way through the rest of their summer schedule.

Lance Erving

Team: E1T1 United (FL)
Record: 2-2 (8-8 overall)

EYBL Hampton stats: 14.8 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.8 APG, 1.0 SPG
Full season stats

Game 1: 13 PTS (9-12 FG), 6 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL
Game 2: 24 PTS, 13 REB, 5 AST, 4 STL, 2 BLK
Game 3: 6 PTS, 2 REB, STL
Game 4: 16 PTS, 7 AST, 2 REB, STL

E1T1 needs two wins in order to qualify for Peach Jam, and it's unlikely they would have completed that mission without Lance Erving. The 6-foot-2 junior scored in double-figures three times, including a 24-point, 13-rebound, 5-assist performance versus AOT. He came up big again in E1T1's Peach Jam-clinching win, picking up the production from an absent Marsei Caston. If Erving continues this type of production in July, E1T1 will have another weapon alongside Caston, CJ Walker, Tre Mann and Zaire Wade.

Myron Gardner

Team: The Family Detroit (MI)
Record: 2-2 (6-10 overall)

EYBL Hampton stats: 18.5 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.5 SPG
Full season stats

Game 1: 20 PTS, 7 REB, AST
Game 2: 17 PTS, 6 REB, AST, 4 STL
Game 3: 20 PTS, 15 REB, 4 AST, STL
Game 4: 17 PTS, 8 REB, 3 AST, STL, BLK

Myron Gardner had the most impressive showing on this list, displaying moments of dominance while helping The Family to a good showing in Hampton. Gardner had a monster line against a formidable Howard Pulley frontcourt in game three, and displayed a versatile floor-game all session long. Gardner is a budding high-major recruit, and judging by his advanced analytics, he should be a hot commodity as the summer continues.
