Thanks to the heroics of junior Trayce Jackson-Davis, the Indy Heat snuck into Peach Jam on the day's final day.
A Third Team All-EYBL selection, Jackson-Davis enjoyed himself a terrific spring, and we asked the rising star about the different challenges and excitement about playing on the circuit.
Question: You hit a huge game-winner to get a win over Pro Skills this year. Do you remember that play?
Trayce Jackson-Davis It was on a fast break, there was about six seconds and our point guard Ethan Watts drove down the key and took my defender with him, so I just cut to the basket and it was an easy layup for me.
Q: You’ve hit two game-winning shots this season. What does that say to you, knowing that your teammates have so much confidence in you?
TJD: It really says a lot, I appreciate that they trust me. They trust me and have faith that I can carry us to a ‘w’.
Q: Do you have a favorite teammate?
TJD: No, I love all of my teammates. There’s not a favorite. I love playing with all our guys.
Q: What’s it like playing with Keion Brooks?
TJD: He’s been working really hard, he’s a great player. I think we match each other’s skillsets very well, so it really helps us. When we’re both going, we’re hard to beat.
Q: Your dad Dale played in the NBA. What type of influence does he have on your game?
TJD: He has a big influence on my game, he’s always trying to teach me things. He does stuff for me, and helps me out with my game a lot.
Q: What are you working on heading into Peach Jam?
TJD: Just continue to have my motor going, just playing both ends of the floor offensively and defensively.
Q: What’s your pregame ritual?
TJD: Pregame rituals… I don’t really have one. Just warmups, dunk a few, get a feel.
Q: Besides playing basketball, what do you like about your teammates?
TJD: We all joke around a lot. We have fun in the hotels, play 2K, stuff like that. We just have a good time.
